Sandra's Butterfly Birthday Hop!

Happy Saturday! Welcome to Sandra's (365 Days of Cricut) Butterfly Birthday blog hop! Wasn't Erika's shaker card just ADORABLE!!

For my butterfly themed project I made some new wall decorations for my girls' bedroom. They recently got new matching "big girl" comforters of brown and pink. (Sniff - no more princess stuff) ...

First, I wrapped a foam wreath form in thick brown yarn. I bought a flat sheet that I cut up to make velcro dust ruffles for both beds and there was enough left over that I was able to make the ruffles for the wreath. I used svg files for the butterflies and the tag is cut from Once Upon A Princess. I Stickled around the edges of the butterflies and tag for a little bling. I stamped "Butterfly Kisses" from SMS Designers Choice stamp set and used a ribbon tied in a bow for the hanger.

I hope you enjoyed my little project - I'd love to hear from you if you did or if you have any questions. :)

A Little Non-Paper Craft! :)

Hello, hello! I just had to share a little craft I made last week and didnt' share yet. I have been wanting to make one of these little babies for a while and finally got around to it. LOL

Did you guess? It's an ice pack! :) I have had a similar one for YEARS that I love, but it's getting really raggedy. So I went to the one of the local feed stores and bought some "feed grade" corn and sewed this little guy. I had the fabric from another project so the total was about $2.25!

I cut each pattern of fabric into a 9" x 12" rectangle, then folded a 1/4" around all the sides and pressed the fold flat. Then I put the right sides together and sewed a 1/4" in seam around the rectangle, leaving about a 2" opening in the middle of one of the short sides. Turn the bag right side out and fill will about 2 cups of corn. Sew the 2" opening closed, now comes the hard part! LOL To sew the inside seam you have to make sure the corn stays out of the way. I wound up using a small box right next to my sewing machine so that the back could rest on it instead of floping down to the table as I sewed. :)

That's it, and voila! - a reusable ice bag that molds around knees, elbows and what ever body part you need it to. My kids LOVE it and run to use it on even the most tiny boo-boo (even some imaginary ones, I think! LOL).

Thanks for stoping by - be sure to come by on Saturday, I will be participating in a Butterfly Birthday Blog Hop hosted by Sandra from 365 Days of Cricut! :)

Hope to see you there! {{{ HUGS }}}

Christmas in July - Holiday Planner

Thank you so much for joining me for my Holiday Planner project for Christmas in July hosted by Giselle from Cross My Heart Paper Crafts!

Warning: LOTS of photos, so here we go...

In the 1st pocket we have covered notebook for writing down your present list. I wanted it to be covered from peaking eyes. :) In the third pocket there is a receipt envelope. This is just a legal size envelope that was sealed and then I cut about 1.5 inches off one side so that it fits well in the planner.

In the 2nd pocket I made a folder to hold my return address labels, labels I printed from my Christmas card list, and stamps. That way when I am ready to send my Christmas cards I can grab this folder and everything is ready to go!

In the last pocket I have notebook paper and a calendar on the front to help keep track of events and errands. I stamped different Christmas sentiments on the paper to keep in the holiday theme. I did three of each stamps so there is a total of 21 papers.

I also added a loop pen holder on the side because I NEVER have a pen when I need one! LOL I attached a long ribbon on the back side of the planner to keep it tied neatly together so it can easily fit in a purse. The total size is 7.5" x 4.75"

Here is one more shot of the planner open and filled.

Want to know the biggest secret? IT'S MADE FROM A 2-POCKET SCHOOL FOLDER just like this one...

I cut it down to 7.5" high and then folded each side in half - TA-DA, a pocket planner! Now just cover with paper and embellishments. :)

Hope you enjoyed my holiday planner - thank you so much for stopping by! Remember to leave a message on my post HERE to be eligible to win a Scrappy Moms Stamps Winter Wishes stamp set.

Sneak Peek #3 - Quirky Quotes

I hope everyone is having a good Monday! :)

My project for today is from SMS Quirky Quotes...

The ties are from Lettering Delights - they are actually meant to wrap around soda bottles but I deleted the layer with the "neck strap". LOL I don't make many masuline cards so I decided to use the ties instead a something "cutsie". ;)

Here is the full Quirky Quotes set...

Here is the other just released set, Happy Campers...

Thank you so much for visiting me today - have a wonderful one!

Sneak Peek #2 - HAPPY CAMPERS!

Hello! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! :)

Today I am sharing a project made with our new Scrappy Moms Stamps Happy Camper set...

The scene and tent are from Campin' Critters, the fire is from Create A Critter, and the stones around the campfire are the small hole punch on the Crop-o-Dial. Note: I had to "trim down" the river to make room for my tent and fire. I took off about 1/4 of the river on the left side - I just cut it to match the original shape.

Here is the photo of the full Happy Campers set -

On a sad/frustrating note my red Cricut Expression died right in the middle of this card! I've only had it 19 months and, BAM, out of service! I have had several friends in the blog world warn about the 18 month cut off so Tammy and decided last month to buy new ones that we found on special on-line. They were the same price as we paid for ours almost 2 years ago so we figured better safe than sorry. Boy, was I glad we did - I was able to get it out of the garage and continue working. :)

Here's what mine did, just as a heads up... it started not finishing the cut, literally! There would be a 1/4 inch or so section that just wasn't cut out. Then is started "making" the cut without the blade dropping down to the paper. It would go thought all the motions and there wasn't ANY contact between the blade and paper. I thought it might be my gypsy so I tried just the cartridge and overlay but it did the same thing. :(

I hope you have better luck this weekend with your crafting! LOL

Teriffic Tuesday Challenge - Preserves!

Happy Tuesday! This week's TTC with Scrappy Moms Stamps is Preserves. I have had this cart for quite a while and I might have used it once. :(

This is actually the 2nd idea I had for this challenge but I just got overwhelmed because of all the layers and decided to go with my back-up idea (LOL) ...

It's difficult to tell, but my peach is on a Wobble... for a little Shakin'! :)

The tree is from Campin' Critter (I cut off the rabbit as I did in this project) and embossed with Cuttlebug's Devine Swirls folder. The card base is from Lacy Lables and the stamp is from SMS Good Eats stamp set.

I hope that you will join us for this weeks TTC! Have a great week! :)
