Christmas Craft #3

One last project for you on this happy Christmas Eve! :)

This is another Pinterest find - I just LOVE pinterest. :)

The blog that I saw this on said that they took ribbon and sewed it to ruffle it. I found ribbon that I really wanted to use but it was wired... so I thought I would try just pulling the wire to make it ruffle. Yippee!! It worked and I didn't even have to whip out my sewing machine!

So, after I ruffled most, if not all, the ribbon I started hot gluing it onto a floral styrofoam cone. I started at the bottom and worked my way up - it was so fast and easy! I just love those kind of crafts. :)

The blog that I found this on used the same small finials at the top but also had them on a spindle (or candle holder) base. I decided that I like it better as is. I tied a bow and some small jinglebells on bakers twine to finish it off.

I hope that everyone has a FABULOUS Christmas tomorrow!!

PS - Sorry for the horrible photo - I just couldn't get a good angle on my counter! :(

Christmas Crafts #2

Just a quick post to share my 2nd craft for the Holiday season...

Tammy (the other Scrappy Mom) bought a kit to made a standing countdown calender that used bead board, a metal sheet and vinyl. I LOVED it - but they were all sold out so I decided to try to make it myself. Since I already had a table-top one that my kids keep knocking over (and over, and over) I decided to make one that goes on the fridge.

I got a 12 x 12 sheet of metal flashing at Home Depot - covered the edge with strips of scrapbook paper to help "soften" them a bit. I designed the vinyl in MTC in three layers, one for each color. First I laid down the black layer with the title and icons. Next came the red layer and finally the white layer with the numbers which sets on top of the icons.

I put self-adhesive magnets on the back and attached a super-strong disc magnet to the Santa face, which is a small Christmas tree ornament. Ta-Da ... a Christmas countdown calender is born! :)

Hope you enjoyed my little project today! I have one more to share... possibly even today since tomorrow is Christmas Eve and will be busy for most of us. :)

Happy Holidays!

Christmas Crafts - #1

Wow - it's been a busy holidays season around here! How about you? This time of year sure is hectic, isn't it? But what a great way to wrap up the year. :)

I have a few Christmas crafts to share with you over the next few days. Here is the 1st one...

I saw these nativity blocks on Pinterest and just had to make some myself. In fact, I wound up making so many (17) that I went and bought a 7.25" electic miter saw. I LOVE IT! I did the 1st batch by hand and my arm was sore for days. The 2nd batch was like butter. If you have small wood projects/crafts I highly recommend one! :)

I made these for all my girlfriends, in-laws, and the ladies from my MOMS group. Everyone seemed to really like them. :)

Stop back by tomorrow for a new project. Hope to see you then!

Happy Holidays!

Terrific Tuesday Challenge - It's in the bag!

Happy Tuesday! I hope that everyone is having a very happy holiday season - thank you for taking time to join me today.

My project for this weeks TTC is a little treat for one of my daughter's Christmas gifts. The challenge this week is to use a bag in your project. This one actually stumped me a little bit, so I decided to work backwards and started with the stamp and made the project match it. LOL I used my new Fiskars 1.5" circle punch and 2" scalloped circle punch to make the tag.

I just tucked the bag under the ribbon on the package but you could also punch a couple of holes and tie the ribbon though the bag. I used an Itty Bitty Bag from our Scrappy Moms Stamps store. The sentiment is from our SMS A Holiday to Remember stamp set.

I hope you liked my little bag and I hope Emily does too. :) Come play along with us at the SMS Terrific Tuesday Challenge!

Happy Holidays!

Terrific Tuesday Chellenge - Christmas!

Oh, cow! I totally forgot to put this post up last night! So, sorry for being so late...

This week's TTC is a Christmas project - that's right any Christmas project!

I have wanted to try a "window" card and thought this would be a simple one to start off with... Boy, was I wrong! LOL The snowflake layer too sooo long to cut and it had too many little pieces to glue down. Then it looked so plain that I decided to add Stickles to the snowflakes just to make it take longer. I was thinking that I would use this design for this year's Christmas card, now I'm back to the drawing board. LOL

I hope that you will join us for this Terrific Tuesday Challenge!

Terrific Tuesday Challenge - From My Kitchen!

Happy Tuesday! I can't believe the day after tomorrow is Thanksgiving!!! 2011 has just flown by!

I decided to go "quirky' with my project for this weeks TTC. The Challenge is to use From My Kitchen and I decided to use the little cow...

I used a "flower" shape from Lacey Labels and the circle is from George and Basic shapes. The I just added the ribbon and sentiment from Scrappy Moms Stamps Freshly Brewed set to finish of the card. It is a little smaller than I normally make (4.25"x 4.25" But I wanted the shape and cow to be the focal point and not have a lot of "white" space. :)

Hopefully, you enjoyed my little cow card and will come play along with us for this week's Terrific Tuesday Challenge!

I hope everyone has a very happy and safe Thanksgiving! (and Black Friday too! LOL)

Freshly Brewed - Sneak Peek #2

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Just a quick post to show you a card I made with the new SMS Freshly Brewed stamp set...

The heart is on a wobble and it looks so cute rocking back and forth that I just had to do a quick video - LOL.

The heart is cut from Lacy Lables, as is the "top note" shape. The tea cups are from Love You A Latte - I cut off the tea bags and the little "bump" from the string on the brim of each cup. The colors are a little out of the usual but I wanted to try to change it up a bit. :)

Thanks for stopping by today - be sure to vist the other SMS Design Team members - including our November Guest Designer Sarah - for more projects this week.

Not just any marshmallows but mint chocolate marshmallows by Jet Puff! I saw these at Target and new they would be perfect match to this hot chocolate. They would work great with regular cocoa too! The tag is cut from Once Upon a Princess.

Here is the full Freshly Brewed set - we hope you love it as much as we do

Terrific Tuesday Challenge - 3D Project

Happy Tuesday! Can you believe it's November already?! :/

This weeks TTC is a 3D project with twine and/or a button...

I decided to do a little pillow box treat container. My son LOVES Fishy Cracker so I wanted to use them and I think they are just too cute to hide behind paper. So, I went to Michaels and bought a packet of clear acylic sheets (they are in the paper isle and come in an 8.5" x 11" pad). I use a strip of patterned paper and a strip of solid cardstock to make my wrapper. I used a sentiment from SMS Amusing Animals set (our VERY 1ST set!), bakers twine and my brand new 1.5" circle and scallop circle squeeze punch by Fiskars - I'll have to do a "Haul" post about those later. LOL!

I hope you enjoyed my project today. I had fun with this challenge - it really made me think "out of the box". I hope you will all come and play along with this weeks Terrific Tuesday Challenge!

Witch Hats - YUMMY!

Here is a super quick Halloween snack - Chocolate Witch Hats!

Here's what you need -

Keebler Fudge Stripe cookies
Hersey's Kisses
Icing - Mine was orange/yellow stipped but any Halloween-ish color will do.

That's it! You turn the cookies upside down and use the icing to adhere an unwrapped Kiss to the cookie. Voila! A super cute and yummy Witches Hat!

I hope you enjoyed our quick, little project today! {{{ HUGS }}}

Frankly, Your the Best! :)

We made these for my 2 daughters to take for their teachers as a little Halloween treat - Giant Candy Bar Frankensteins.

These are so easy and fast to make - we took a 12 x 12 piece of patterened paper and cut one side down to 6.75" then wrapped the paper around the bar and eyeballed how where to cut so that there was enought to wrap around and glue. I found these Frankenstein face cards at Walmart for 98 cents for a pack of 8 - what a deal! We stamped the "Frankly, Your the Best!" sentiment from our SMS Bewitched stamp set. Ta-Da - a quick and easy Halloween treat!

Stop back tomorrow for another little Halloween craft that the kids and I are working on! :)

P.S. - The little bat and monster were painted by my daugher Emily at our local potter painting place. :)

Terrific Tuesday Challenge - Doodlecharms

Happy Tuesday! For this weeks challenge I decided to use the snowman from Doodlecharms (a popular choice among us on the DT - LOL)! I also put him in a snowglobe. It's hard to tell but he's on a wobble - I just couldn't remember how to slow down my shutterspeed to capture the movement and need to get it posted.

I use Stickles to make my snow and reflection sparkel. I use baker's twine to make the scarf - that was the hardest part of the project! LOL The sentiment is from SMS A Holiday to Remember stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek! Have a wonderful week!

Buggy about Birthdays Hop!

Welcome! You should be arriving from the FABULOUS Techniques by Trish - wasn't Trish's project great! :D First, I want to say thank you to Corri for inviting me to join this hop for her Birthday!

My project was for my daughter's 10th birthday which was yesterday! She is an AVID reader and can NEVER find a bookmark. You should see some of the stuff she winds up using to mark her place... candy wrappers, paperclips, twist-ties, etc. LOL So I decided to make her some bookmarks and find a good place for her to keep them. I bought a slider pencil case from the $1 section in Michaels - I planned to decorated it but ran out of time, at least it's her favorite color. :)

I used paint chips for the actual bookmark - my kids love them and always have to get a few everytime we go to Home Depot. They are so colorful and easy to use! The bugs are from Create a Critter, Car Decals, and Everyday Paper Dolls. I also used a variety of sentiments from Scrappy Moms Stamps. Note: I wound up using embossing powder for the stamps on the actual paint chips as my ink kept smearing.

I hope you enjoyed my little project, your next stop on the hop its the WONDERFUL Bonnie at Pink BonBons.

Sneak Peek # 4 - Believe in Miracles

Happy Friday! This has been a BUSY week around here, the kiddos have been on fall break from school and today is my oldest daugher's 10th birthday!! :D

I just wanted to pop in and post this card I made using SMS Believe in Miracles set...

I cut the butterflies from 3 different carts and made sure they all had 3 layers (including the contrasting body) so I could bend the wings up for a 3-d effect.

Thanks for taking a peek at my project today - I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Wish me luck with the b-day party and subsequent sleepover! LOL :)

Terrific Tuesday Challenge - Welcome Fall!

Happy Tuesday! Today's TTC is a very special one - our 1st theme/color challenge! The challenge is to creat a fall project that uses brown and teal!

I actually have TWO projects to show you today - mine...

and my oldest daugher, Emily's...

Didn't she do a FABULOUS job?! When I showed her my card she said, "You could also use that stamp with a tree and leaves with PKS on them!". So I said, "Go for it!" She used the tree from Everyday Paper Dolls - cut in to colors for the layers. The leaf is from Create A Critter and she used 5 different PKS face stamps. I'm so proud of how creative she is - I love that she has her tree above the top of the card! I never think to do things like that, I guess I just need her to show me how to think outside the box and do things "against the rules"!! :D

My tree and owl family are from Lettering Delights. I used some extra-mini gems, a touch of stickles on the leaves and some baker's twine to add a little pizzaz. The sentiment is from our new A Holiday to Remember set. :)

I hope you enjoyed our two takes on the Welcome Fall TTC, please come and play along with us!

Happy Fall, Y'all!

SMS Sneak #2 - Have Yourself a Cozy Little Christmas!

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! I have a project using our new Scrappy Moms Stamps A Holiday to Remember set...

I made the fireplace by converting a coloring page and the chair by using a page out of a furnature owner's manual into SVG files. LOL Yes, I did say a furnature owner's manual! It was the only image I could find of the back of a chair. :D

I used my Distressed Strips embossing folder by Cuttlebug for the background and a little bit of Stickles on the fire and the stocking caps.

Here is a picture of the full A Holiday to Remember set...

Remember that we are having a FREE SHIPPING special thru 10/16 over on the Scrappy Moms Stamps blog!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

My project today used Believe in Miracles...
